The number of people who have contracted coronavirus in the UK has now reached 456.
The rise in confirmed cases from 373 is the largest day-on-day increase since the outbreak began.
It is a jump of 83, which is 22% up on the equivalent figure for Tuesday.
In an update on the outbreak on Wednesday, the department for health revealed that almost 27,500 people have been tested for Covid-19.
The death toll in the UK stands at six after a man in his 80s – who had underlying health conditions – died at Watford General Hospital on Monday after contracting the disease.
