When Kate opted to wear her lilac Gucci blouse backwards, she tapped into the fashion zeitgeist
If the world feels a little back to front, it’s because it quite literally is when it comes to fashion. Earlier this week, the Duchess of Cambridge visited the the Henry Fawcett Children’s Centre in London wearing a lilac Gucci blouse backwards. According to product descriptions on Net-a-Porter and Nordstrom, the top’s small fabric-covered buttons were intended to be fastened at the back. But while the duchess kept the pussy-bow tie at the front of the silk-crepe shirt, she flipped the button fastenings to the front, too, prompting speculation that she got dressed in the dark.
It seems unlikely. Kate has been on fashion roll – see the caped cornflower-blue Mulberry coat she wore in Belfast and the pink Gucci gown she chose for a women in finance dinner. Grazia magazine described her “new” style as more experimental.
