By Steven Hopkins

A woman has died after a lorry crashed into the side of a house in South Yorkshire earlier today.

The victim, a pedestrian who has not yet been named, died after the vehicle crashed in Park View, Brierley, around 1.40pm.

Police said on Friday afternoon that four men had been arrested and confirmed that the vehicle involved had been “involved in crime” before the crash.

The BBC ran video footage which appeared to show two young men getting out of the lorry before running away.

The BBC said three people were injured in the incident.

Police would not confirm reports from people in the village that the truck was being followed by police shortly before the collision.

A large area remained cordoned off around the newly built house, which has suffered severe damage at the back, with beds and other household items hanging precariously from the wrecked gable end.

Police earlier said it was not known if anyone was inside the house when the crash happened.

Park View was closed from the junction of Common Road, following the crash.
