'Fauci ouchie': small online sellers find lifeline in vaccine-themed merchandise

From badges to foam hats, switch to selling quirky items has offered financial respite during pandemic

Small online sellers who were affected by the pandemic have switched to selling quirky vaccine-themed items in order to regain income lost.

On the shopping platform Etsy items such as “Vaccinated” badges, Moderna cup holders and “Pfizer alumni” T-shirts have been big sellers, and have provided small businesses with economic respite after the ravages of last year.

Jessica Wood obituary

Jessica Wood, who has died aged 43, was laughter, colour and love in constant motion. A fashion journalist who saw her profession as a door to a riot of beauty for everyone, she explored clothes as art, armour, business and often just pure joy.

Born in north London, the only daughter of Hazel (nee Leslie), a literary journalist, and Antony Wood, a leading translator from Russian, Jess grew up surrounded by words, and developed her own great gift, both in written and spoken form.

I’m in my suburban garden wearing an electric blue bodysuit which makes me look part water-sprite, part cyborg. Tendrils coil around my limbs. Impossible violet petals unfurl at my feet and explode around my body. What will the neighbours think?

Actually, if the neighbours looked they would see me shuffling around awkwardly in front of my husband’s iPhone lens, wearing a black vest and leggings, trying to find an angle that hides the sandpit. It is only later that the catsuit – designed by London-based duo Auroboros – is superimposed on to the image.
