This Futuristic Lifestyle Sneaker Is Equipped With Top-Tier Performance Tech

For its latest release, Denmark-based Arkk Copenhagen is focused on both aesthetics and tech, equipping an eye-catching lifestyle sneaker with a renowned lacing system frequently used by outdoor performance brands.
Arriving Friday is the Arkk Copenhagen Hypertrex FG Boa W13, a unisex high-top pair of kicks that the brand described as its “most futuristic sneaker to date.” To keep it looking like it was made in the future is its chunky Wave13 sole unit, a component used on prior fall ’18 styles. (Arkk said this is the final shoe that will use the Wave13.)
Keeping your feet locked into the kicks is a Boa lacing system, used mostly on aggressive outdoor-focused shoes, with its closure discs on the backs. The style also features the brand’s sleek and socklike FutureGrid knit upper.

“It’s such a clean, functional design. [And] you got to love that beautiful clicking sound every time you lace up,” Arkk Copenhagen creative director Kasper Høj Rasmussen said in a statement.
The Arkk Copenhagen Hypertrex FG Boa W13 will debut in two colorways (“Midnight Wind Gray” and “Black Titanium”) and will retail for $230.

Meghan Markle’s Latest Outfit Has Subtle Flirty Touches From Head to Toe

Meghan Markle made a chic arrival today at the Oceania exhibit opening at London’s Royal Academy of Arts.
The Duchess of Sussex turned to her favorite designers, Givenchy, the luxury house that designed her wedding gown, and Aquazzura, a brand she has worn on many high-profile occasions (including in her engagement announcement photo with Prince Harry and at her wedding reception).

For her first solo engagement, the duchess gave Aquazzura designer Edgardo Osorio yet another moment in the spotlight on the international stage.
Markle had on the Deneuve pump, which features side cutouts, a pointy toe and a flirty bow at the back on a 4.5-inch stiletto heel. The shoes retail for around $750.

The footwear was a fine match for Givenchy’s sheath dress, which had a demure silhouette — just a hint of leg, covered arms and concealed décolletage (though apt for a royal). But she countered the look with subtle, sensual touches like sheer sleeves, a rich velvet front around the bodice, a flash of skin around the heel and a bow at the back.

Sears Makes Last-Ditch Effort to Prevent Bankruptcy

As Sears teeters on the brink of bankruptcy, CEO and major shareholder Eddie Lampert is proposing a rescue plan as a last-ditch effort to keep the struggling retailer afloat.
In a proposal disclosed yesterday in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Lampert’s hedge fund, ESL Investments Inc., urged Sears Holdings Corp. to restructure its liabilities as well as sell about $1.5 billion in real estate and $1.75 billion in other assets, including the company’s Home Services division and household appliance brand Kenmore. The move would reduce the department store chain’s debt by nearly 80 percent to approximately $1.2 billion.
Lampert first offered to purchase the company’s real estate through his hedge fund in April in a bid to salvage the retail enterprise. Now, as Sears faces “significant near-term liquidity constraints” — counting a $134 million debt payment due on Oct. 15 — the latest proposal signals a growing sense of urgency.
“Sears must act immediately to have sufficient runway to continue its transformation,” read the filing. “Given the current situation, we believe that substantial progress must be made … without delay. We are ready and willing to move as quickly as possible to help the company transform into a business that

See Kaia Gerber and Cindy Crawford Style Their Matching Black Boots in Different Ways

Even off the runway, Kaia Gerber manages to grab headlines.
Case in point: her latest public outing in Paris, where the 17-year-old model was spotted ahead of her Fashion Week appearances in a casual look that has us comparing her footwear choice to that of her supermodel mother, Cindy Crawford, who stepped out earlier today.

Sean Wotherspoon Teases His Next Air Max 1/97 Sneaker

Sneaker fans who missed out on the release of Sean Wotherspoon’s Nike Air Max 1/97 on Air Max Day (March 26) will have another chance at the model. The vintage shop owner-turned-Nike designer shared an early sample on Instagram.
According to Wotherspoon, the upper will feature a take on the opposite end of the spectrum from the original multicolored design by dressing it in a light blue corduroy. “I’m thinking add some color to the sole, make that air bubble infrared, gotta change the sock liner to yellow, maybe a new color insole?!, fix the denim on the tabs, and do a gradient from light to dark blue instead of all light blue?!?” he wrote.

The hybrid takes design cues from the vintage Nike hats of the ’80s. The corduroy upper is created with unfinished edges, which sit atop Air Max 1 tooling.
The Nike Air Max 1/97 SW VF is reselling on the secondary market for approximately $600.

Why Aldo Group Is Investing in Wind Farms in Europe

The Aldo Group’s Montreal headquarters features an olive tree in the firm’s lobby — a symbolic nod to the founder’s Mediterranean roots and perhaps also to where the footwear giant is headed next.
As part of a bold environmental mission, the firm today revealed its plan to become the first fashion footwear and accessories company to be certified carbon neutral.
“This is something we’ve been wanting to do for awhile, but we had to figure out the best way to do it,” CEO David Bensadoun told FN. “We finally found a formula that’s going to work and that we can stick with for years to come. It’s a big moment in the company’s history.”
Bensadoun noted that five years ago the firm began calculating its carbon footprint and plotting ways to make improvements. Already it has drastically reduced its greenhouse gases, cutting them by 33 percent as of the end of last year. “With the Paris Agreement, the goal is to hold global warming to less than 2 degrees Celsius by 2030. Forget about holding it steady; we’ve already reduced our [emissions],” said Bensadoun.

Michael Kors and Versace to Join Forces in $2B Deal

Michael Kors Holdings Ltd. means business.
The company today made good on its intentions to expand into a larger luxury conglomerate — announcing that it has entered into an agreement to acquire all outstanding shares of Italian luxury fashion house Gianni Versace S.p.A. for an enterprise value of 1.83 billion euros, or $2.12 billion.
“The acquisition of Versace is an important milestone for our group. For over 40 years, Versace has represented the epitome of Italian fashion luxury, a testament to the brand’s timeless heritage,” said Michael Kors chairman and CEO John Idol. “We are excited to have Versace as part of our family of luxury brands, and we are committed to investing in its growth.”
Idol said he expects Versace to grow to over $2 billion in revenues and foresees “multiple years of revenue and earnings growth.” As part of its long-term expansion strategy for the brand, Michael Kors plans to add 200 to 300 Versace stores internationally and accelerate the firm’s omnichannel development.
“I am proud that Versace remains very strong in both fashion and modern culture,” said Donatella Versace, who took over the business 20 years ago — along with her brother Santo Versace and daughter Allegra Versace. “Santo, Allegra and I

Kim Kardashian’s Daughter Makes Her Debut on the Runway — and She Walks Like a Pro

Kim Kardashian’s 5-year-old daughter North West made her runway debut alongside a bevy of her friends at the L.O.L. Surprise Fashion Show in Pacific Palisades, Calif., last week on Saturday.
The first child of Kanye West and Kardashian made waves as she strutted her stuff down the catwalk in a look-inspired by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” music video outfit — right down to the white socks with black patent leather loafers.
West, who also rocked a red leather jacket with a matching skirt and a black zip-up top, was actually dressed as one of her favorite L.O.L. Surprise character, Thrilla, from the popular toy line. North’s outfit also came with oversized statement sunglasses and a nearly $300 black acrylic Cult Gaia Ark purse.

The 37-year-old KKW Beauty mogul was naturally on hand to cheer on her little one. She sat front row rocking Tom Ford python pants with coordinating boots and a bright orange Prada bag.
This comes only a few months after the youngster made her modeling debut alongside her mom and grandmother Kris Jenner in Fendi’s #MeandMyPeekaboo campaign.

This Was Milan Fashion Week’s Biggest Trend For Spring 2019

Pantone has yet to release its color palette for 2019, but come next month, we’re betting that one of them will include a highlighter hue.
A number of brands showed extreme neon looks at Milan Fashion Week, from head to toe, igniting the trend forecasting that blindingly bright colors will be the big trend for spring ’19.
Here are 10 brands that fueled the neon fire in Milan:
Versace
The brand was the talk of the town — for its Michael Kors acquisition rumors and sartorially for its clash course in printed dresses, jackets and stockings with neon block heels.

Blame it on Miuccia: The designer’s fall ’18 kicked off the trend back in February with a sporty, highlighter hued collection that was all over street style stars in Milan. There were also hints of the colors in the eclectic spring ’19 collection, though more sparingly used.

How Nike Can Best Leverage Tiger Woods’ Big Comeback Win

Tiger Woods’ win Sunday at the 2018 Tour Championship is his first victory in five years. And industry insiders believe Nike has several ways it can leverage the golf icon’s latest achievement.
Matt Powell, senior industry advisor for sports with The NPD Group Inc., believes the Swoosh would best be served by using Woods to cultivate a new generation of golf fans.
“Nike is facing serious headwinds in terms of the game itself,” Powell said, “but they could have him devote his efforts on grassroots youth golf and do whatever he can to bring young kids in, give his time and energy to try to drive youth golf.”
But Powell doesn’t believe the impact will consume the people brands today need to attract, millennial and Gen Z shoppers, who aren’t golf diehards.
“Clearly, a lot of people watched him on TV, there was a huge crowd to witness the victory, so it gives [Nike] credibility, but it’s not with their core consumer,” Powell said. “The values of golf don’t line up with those generations.”
However, Ankur Amin, CEO of TGS (the parent company of Extra Butter, Rise, Rooted and Renarts), believe’s Woods’ story is powerful enough to resonate with young people, regardless if they love or

The Future Looks Bright for Gucci Spring 2019

For anyone doubting that spring 2019 will be full of neons and other bright colors, Gucci just confirmed it.
The Italian fashion house held its spring ’19 runway show on Monday, the first day of Paris Fashion Week, opting to show in the French city instead of during its usual time slot at Milan Fashion Week.

Held at the city’s Théâtre Le Palace, a former nightclub known for its rule breaking in the 1970s and 1980s, the show began with a dark surrealist film, followed by models walking down the aisle ways of the theater two-by-two as opera music played. Once half of the models had assembled on the stage, French actress Jane Birkin appeared in the audience to sing a rendition of her 1983 song “Baby Alone in Babylone.”

How Jacquemus Souped up his Sandals and Supersized his Bags for Spring

Simon Porte Jacquemus’ spring ’19 show was totally prêt-à-plage. (That’s ‘beach ready’ but it sounds way better in French right?) The designer who never strays far from his Marseilles roots presented his Riviera-inspired collection today in Paris at the Italian embassy, his outdoor runway making the most of the last vestiges of summer.
But this was the chicest of beaches where looks segued from bikinis and voluminous shirt dresses to plunging evening gowns and back. Which is the whole point about the South of France, he said, because you basically commute between the beach and the red carpet.

The designer’s spring heels catered for just such eventualities. His signature mismatched geometrics were realized in colored Plexi glass that glinted in the evening sun. “I wanted to follow on from the abstract heels that made me famous but a bit different way,” he told FN, citing Italianate sculpture and Murano glass vases as inspirations.
However, he also debuted a soaring lace-up platform with architectural wooden sole and straps that passed underneath the heel. “Sure it’s a cliché but platforms are a must for the South of France in the summer,” he said, “I’ve never done them before so they’re my new

Dior is Bringing Back the Ballet Flat for Spring 2019

Maria Grazia Chiuri made a compelling case for the return of the ballet flat at Christian Dior’s spring ’19 runway show on Monday, which kicked off Paris Fashion Week.
Not that the shoe has ever gone away (as most women likely still keep a version of the flat shoe in their closets), but the loafer, slipper or a hybrid of the two have reigned as the flat shoes of choice for most (you can thank Gucci for that).

Chiuri did the most literal take that she could on the dance theme, starting with the show. It opened with a singular dancer, centerstage and clad in a leotard, performing a contemporary sequence in slow motion while rose petals fell around her in the spotlight. She was eventually joined by a co-ed troupe, who performed a short number before the models walked out.

Sustainable footwear is in right now, and Switzerland-based Baabuk has a stylish new unisex sneaker on the way made with ethically sourced wool from Portugal.

The lightweight and breathable style features merino wool lining and elastic laces, and will debut in four colorways: a tonal blue look, one executed in tonal gray hues, a predominantly dark gray style and a mostly yellow iteration. All but the dark gray feature a while midsole and outsole.

How This Billion-Dollar Shoe Store Has Secretly Sidestepped the Retail Apocalypse

This isn’t Cliff Sifford’s first go-round.
As retail observers issue dire warnings about the future of brick-and-mortar and the increasingly unpredictable customer, Shoe Carnival’s chief believes he sits atop a business that’s always been one step ahead.
“Everyone talks about the millennial today and how you have to entertain them,” the executive said. “We’ve been doing that for 40 years. Part of our store concept is, when you come in, there’s always music playing. We have ‘spin and win,’ a ‘pop a shot,’ we run trivia contests and we announce specials over the microphone. There are all kinds of ways for a customer to be entertained while they’re in our doors. We’ve been doing that long before millennials began to demand it.”
Back-to-back quarters of blockbuster earnings growth lend credence to Shoe Carnival’s winning strategy. The company last month said its second-quarter revenues advanced 14 percent to $268.4 million during the all-important back-to-school period. Meanwhile, its comparable sales surged nearly 7 percent — a figure that’s hard to come by in the current retail climate.
“They’ve done a solid job — there’s no question — of navigating the dynamics in their industry,” said Wedbush Securities analyst Christopher Svezia. “There were some things that Cliff

How Kaia Gerber’s Futuristic Sneakers Elevate a Black & White Outfit
